Hi Neil, thank you for your input, I will try and do your design proud.
What motors would you suggest? I have a couple of Beulers & 800 motors
Are they too big? Or would you go brushless as I have 2 950kv motors.
What props would you fit? Any help will be appreciated.
Regards
John
I feel very proud every time I see a model of the ALR...
..and never seen a bad one...
...but seen some absolute crackers...
...I wish dave would get on and finish and release the little Liverpool class I did for him 10 years ago.
as for motors....
..the buhlers are what I put in the original prototype and she worked well at a good scale speed...
...and that was also on the white metal propellers ...
...but plenty of people splash out on brass props of the same diameter.....but with the tunnels they don't make any difference to my thinking...
.but the choice is yours. the tunnels actually restrict the top speed to a certain extent.
but if you put a 12v 7 amph battery in, the model will sail for a couple of hours on one charge at least......you'll get fed up before the battery gives out.
I certainly wouldn't go brushless with it though...
...would be a waste of them especially if you have two buhlers, and you wouldn't get the same run time...
.plus, if you use those, you'd have to put ballast into the hull, where as with a sla battery, the boat is self ballasting to waterline with no extra needed......
