Hi.. I am getting a head ache when it comes to the motors for my 1/16th scale trent..

Reason is I don't want to get it wrong.. I really don't

So I am looking for abit of speed but not a speed boat.. I have seen some boats on you tube and they are quite slow but one jumped out at me.. it was on here!! but he had a gear box built for it.. which I get will allow you to alter the speed but this was beyond my skill set..

So please I would like to buy them.. I am going Lipo I recon.. 3 cell 11.5v I was leaning towards a 600kv motor

I guess my other option is Nicad.. which isn't bad but will it give me the battery time.. a brush less does tend to last..

Hi Surfer71
The Hobbyking L5055B-600 will give you 6660rpm on 3S Lipo batteries.
Diameter 50mm
Length 55mm
Shaft 6mm
Amps 55
Power 1500 Watts on 6S.

Or the sister motor L5055-700 7770rpm on 3S with Amps at 60.
Check out what is the top speed your props will handle, e.g. Raboesch prop chart.

that sounds top advice... I get some of that data and understand it.. so I will have to digest that..
I had in my head from reading that 7000 rpm was an all round winner with out being stupidly fast..

so that's not far off ... THe 640 ones I saw where 9500 and too fast really...

so I don't think your far off..

Hi Surfer, I sent you a load of stuff including the motor set up that I have in mine, I sincerely hope you received them as they have not bounced back, nemesis.

If you don't tie yourself to a specific voltage at the start, you should find it easier to get to your preferred revs at the prop by dropping your voltage to suit. I got my 37" Perkasa to fly using this technique. Currently drawing 8.5 amps at 8.4v and 980Kv, without the model becoming unmanageable or having to constantly peg back the throttle stick.

Is it the 'stop listening to everyone else and use 1000Kv motors and sensible voltages' that gave it away???!!!
