Raboesch propellers
« on: July 17, 2018, 03:00:12 am »

Hi fellow boaters. I purchased two 75mm 5 blade c type Raboesch propellers & upon inspection I find they have a concaved section built into the hub about 1 1/2 cm wide &1/2 cm deep, it looks like there should be a thrust bearing threaded to the shaft to lock the hub to the shaft so it can run against the washer behind the stern tube bearing otherwise it would need a 19mm washer to run against which would have the propeller running on a small surface of 1 1/2 mm around the outside of the hub on the propeller. Has anyone had any experience with these type of propellers.

Hi mate, looks like they need a cone shaped thrust bearing, have a look on the Raboesch web site for more details. Could also be a way to mount the prop with a locknut holding the cone???

I had a quick look at raboesch prop shafts and they all have a cone on the end
Maybe it’s for them to fit more tightly together

I have two other boats one using 75mm 4 blade propeller & the other 60mm 4 blade, they have a flat hub that you can run a lock nut up to to secure the shaft to propeller both Raboesch. It maybe it has something to do with name C type propeller. I looked on the web site but could not find any infomation about them, But I know someone will know why they are built that way.

To be honest I haven't seen that before, all mine seem to be flattened off.

I have a couple of smaller props, the cone is detachable as yours is. The prop screws on to the shaft and then you screw the cone on and tighten them against each other similar to a locknut. The cone has a couple of flats on it for a spanner.

Thank you Brian60. I knew there there would be cone to fit into that concaved section of the propeller to lock the propeller to the shaft & to run against the thrust washer on the prop shaft up against the bearing on the styern tube. I could not log into the forum from firefox, but I have got back in through google chrome. You will recieve a email asking where you got your propellers & the cone as no one seems able to tell anything about them.Thank you.

Here's a shot of mine so people understand what is being discussed.
I've just taken it off a model and this one is actually flat not concave, possibly as it is only a 35mm prop and not a larger one as being discussed.
I did send a email reply to the OP, but then realised it went to martin at mbm, so you may or may not have received it.
