BLUEBIRD MUSEUM, CONISTON
« on: July 26, 2018, 01:08:19 am »

I had the honour and pleasure of taking a beautiful old friend out for the day today on a trip to the lakes, in stunning wall to wall sunshine, where we took a visit to the bluebird museum in Coniston, stopping to look at the remains of a Merlin engine recovered from the wreck of a H P Halifax that crashed into a hillside during WW2.
Whilst in the museum we heard the lady behind the desk say to some customers that had just come out of the Bluebird exhibition that the now fully restored Bluebird K7  had been loaded onto a  transport lorry and was returning to Coniston and to finally take her place in the museum within the NEXT FEW DAYS...…….a momentous occasion for all fans of Donald Campbell and Bluebird...…...get your cameras ready guys and go camping.

What happened to the other one, a replica, that got swamped on its runs? Seems the real one can plane at 65mph. Don't think the replica got near that according to news footage.

not according to those at the museum...….she's coming to Coniston today or tomorrow to give all those helpers at the museum a preview of her and what they have all worked for over the past few years, before she goes up to Scotland......heard that first hand yesterday from one of the museum guides...……..can't argue with that, Lance.

Is the museum replica from the film " Across the Lake" ?   There was another replica that couldn't get on the plane.  How many K7 replicas have been made ?

Apparently whatever of the old Bluebird could be used was used. But it's not coming back for a while, according to BBC1 NW . it's going on tour.

This one was numbered  777 if I remember. The rebuilt Campbell K7 wears no number at the moment.
