Bier Sound Module
« on: August 03, 2018, 04:57:55 pm »

Hi guys
After doing alot of research on the different available sound modules for my TID tug (& future models!) ive decided im going to get the Bier Sound module from Germany, its expensive & seems a little fiddly to setup but has tons of features & one of the default sounds that comes shipped with it seems like it will be ideal for my TID.
So does anyone have any experience with this module who can share some tips about setting this up? The version im getting is the Bier USM RC2  along with the 25w speaker/case
Cheers :)

Hi tizdaz,

I have got 5 of them in various models - used them for maybe 4-5 years

If you get stuck then do ask - It's really good to get the USB Ftdi cable as you can then download direct to the board without removing the SD card

Yup that's the one - worth it's weight in gold - or you will find you are forever removing the SD card to make a change to shove the SD card back in the board.

I think they changed specs last year so make sure you get the later cable - but I guess thta's all they are now selling.

The cable allows you to simply make changes and then "download" from the desktop software

NOTE - The board does not like reverse polarity - if you do it will blow the protection diodes instantly and make be more!!! - How do I know this :)

I shall add this cable along with my order, the last time i looked on there website they had a demo page of the sounds so you could hear them via the web page, but i cant seem to find it now, only a page to download the demo of the software?
its no biggy, i just wanted to check out the sounds again that it comes pre loaded with :)

just looking at the info for that data cable, in the image it shows the USB cable plus another cable attached to a PCB with what looks like a servo connector on the end, what is this PCB for ?

Demo sounds are still there - just above the price there is a title "Content of DVD rom" and just beneath this a link "show"  - click on that and the sounds are available

The cable is a standard USB cable that plugs into the adapater board out of which there is a standard 3 pin servo cable that plugs into the sound card

What do you mean by editing feature is still broken?
