Model Thames tugs display.
« on: August 07, 2018, 07:40:45 pm »

Some pictures of model Thames tugs that we put on display last weekend for our local waterside weekend,
Apart from the Oceanic model all of the tugs would have been seen around our waterfront years ago.

Hi Chris most of them were built over the last 5 or 6 years, retirement is a lovely thing.👍👍😄😄😄😄😄

Great display. Reminds me of when I was very young, in the 1960s going to visit Granny in Dagenham. Sometimes our route would take us near the Thames and I can remember, even then, being struck by the unique and pleasing shape of the tugs. Seeing the tugs was something I always enjoyed. Perhaps it is a generational thing, but these older tugs, and Clyde puffers for that matter, seemed to have more character (a personality almost) that later boats seemed to lack.

retirement? I'll give you your due here! I have spent the last 5 years of retirement on two models, if I devoted the time you must surely have to turn out these magnificent ships my wife would kill me! I try and get two hours a day on my stuff but she still complains!

I am lucky really, my wife volunteers 3 days a week at our local hospice so I have plenty of build time.

Thought that the tug "SUN XV11" was familiar , it was an Empire  (Margaret )  as is my current build Cervia . Can only dream to get anything as good as that

You have been very productive given the type of boats and the detail and finish.

I'm getting there on the retirement front, working 3 days a week. I could retire in November but I'm carrying on until March as I don't want to retire going into winter and the extra money will be useful.

I am watching your build with great interest.  Alexander’s had another the Sun XVI Ex Empire Leonard.

Seen here with the Sun XV and Sun XVIII.
