Caldercraft Tug Imara
« on: August 20, 2018, 02:46:08 am »

I have pretty much finished my tug Imara after 5 months and its first water run in the lake was successful.  I had a few extra little parts and I had to make a couple of parts.  Not a big deal.  I did have two parts left over that I have no idea where they go.  I did without them, but I am still curious as to their use.  I have attached a picture of my complete boat and a picture of mystery parts.  I tried to insert the pictures in the post from my computer, but I haven't found the secret.  If any Imara builder can identify these parts I would really appreciate it.

They may be steps that go on the side of the deckhouse to reach the base of the ladder leading up to the boat deck?

Hmmm. doesn't look familiar. I'll have to check my kit and see if I got these somewhere amongst my fittings.

Nice build, BTW! I'm always looking for pictures of finished Imaras for reference.

Are they a deck mounted guide for the running rudder chain?
Can,t really tell what size they are.

The size of the parts in question is 15mm by 7mm.

I found these two parts in my kit... they're amongst other stuff like life preservers, stairs, axes... and I don't have a clue what they are for, either  :police:
Maybe they're a leftover from earlier days when the kit was a bit different (white metal gratings, stanchions and some other changes).

Incidentally, do you know where these two lugs on my picture are supposed to go?

The two lugs go in the aft deck with rings and I used them for the davit hook restraint.  I'll get a picture later today and post it.

Here is a photo of where I believe the two lugs go.

Gotcha. Perfect, thank you!

If you have some more detail shots of your Imara, I'd be very interested. Especially from the upper structure (wheelhouse, bridge...)  :-)
