Introduction from a new member
« on: August 24, 2018, 06:15:50 pm »

Hello all

I have really enjoyed the wealth of information on this forum since joining a few weeks ago and thought it was about time to introduce myself.

I am aiming to get back into boating after approximately a 25 year + break.

I have only ever built a few models before which included:-

BBCs Model World Frigate,
two 'fast' electric boats - one called Sloopy and one called The Bug (they only had a standard 540 in though),
a vac moulded day boat I cannot recall the design name though,
and lastly a still unfinished River Princess.

I will probably do a quick build boat ( KK Ezee build ?) first to get me back into the hobby, but would like then to try tackling a yacht as that is something I have never attempted before.

No doubt I will have some questions I will need answers to and will raise them at the appropriate time.

Regards

Adrian

Welcome to the madhouse! One word of advice - when you have a question (as you undoubtedly will - we all do!), try using the Search box first (upper right in the header bar).  You may well find an answer, or at least some further information, on existing threads.  But feel free to ask away if that doesn't get you what you need.

Happy modelling!
Greg

Welcome Mosfet, I agree with Greg that the search engine can provide some really useful info. I suppose that as a forum archive gets bigger and bigger, it becomes a labyrinth, but keep plugging away at the search and words you use and you will have success! Often, the answers and debate around your question will become the latest information on a subject as new products and materials are often introduced complimenting or replacing the older ones.

If you are a carpenter and like building in wood then I can recommend members like Missy D and BB who do some amazing work in wood, while GRP is very popular and much knowledge is to be found here on types of resin, cloth/matt and its application.

Once you have a project set, do put up a Blog, as we like interesting things to see of an evening  :}
