Neil,
I took my grandson to Lego Land three weeks ago  most like most theme parks but aimed at younger kids I think. But the world village was amazing worth going just for that I had some over 50 years ago and it would still work with the new bricks
                                      Regards Howard.

Do you think they glue the bricks together?

I think I would Howard...……..as like most kids who didn't have a deprived life when young I had a Lego set and so did my brother...…….just untold hours of fun...……...and I still use Lego today for making my mould boxes for casting rubber resin fittings...……...as I have always said...…….I have yet to grow up, lol.

I've got tons of Lego - mostly Technic. I build Lego trucks for trialling - there are some basic rules - approximate scale of 1/14, must have a truck load bed, use the Lego engine with pistons, only allowed 1 drive motor, as many other functions as you like (locking diffs, air suspension, automatic gearboxes etc.) and as many axles / wheels or whatever suspension designs you like.

It's surprisingly difficult to transmit huge torque without shearing parts - but that's all part of the design challenges.

My wife is more into the building sets - she's got the Lego trainsets but now she wants the Disney Castle - but that's about £350 so it'll have to wait.

There seems to be a big difference between Lego as we knew it 50+ years ago, and Lego now. Then you bought bricks and used your imagination to build things with them. Now Lego is sold as sets Minecraft, Disney, Nexo Knights etc - my grandson has most of them %% %%  Each set contains many special parts for that particular model. As with all things this leads to demands for ever more of the special sets.
