dressing cotton sails
« on: August 10, 2008, 12:36:03 AM »

I have read that it is best to dress cotton sails on a model with some kind of waterproofing.

What is a suitable product for this?
Would this be a liquid or other form of proofing?
How would it be applied?
How much do I need? bottles per sq metre etc.

Answers eagerly awaited. I am in UK at the moment and I can buy stuff.

How about something like 3M Scotchguard® or other silicone-based spray designed for upholstery?

Pop into an outdoor shop. The type that sells waterproof jackets etc. They sell various waterproofing agents for cotton, usually in either a spray or cloth applicator style. Perfect for the job...
