Me being thick
« on: September 05, 2018, 08:42:42 pm »

OK I'm being thick, and the logic of maths always escaped me, but the prototype is 343ft in length and the hull that I have is a touch over 57 inches in length, so what scale does this give me?

No high end maths please 'cos it always goes straight over my head, always has, always will. O0

Length of prototype in inches divide by length of model in inches = 1/72 scale

Length of prototype in inches divide by length of model in inches = 1/72 scale
Showing the work,...
(343x12) ÷ 57 = 72.21
 :-))

Thank you both for the answer, that is what I hoped it would be.

It's not easy when you dyslectic, especially with simple maths and other numerical problems. My Father used to say that when it came to doing my sums at school my eyes used to glaze over, they still do.

Thank you for that Derek it has quite made my day :-))

I'm also doing video's now as well and I have a channel on utube, just general stuff for now but, there will be a dedicated channel for marine and modelling subjects in the near future.

Hi Liverbudgie,
You are not being thick but doing the right thing. If you don't know--ask. I am well known for asking about scale sizes.
