Hayling Island Model Boat Club open day
« on: September 11, 2018, 11:25:38 am »

HIMBC is holding an open day on Saturday 29th September, 10.30 to 3.30.

Our main aim is to recruit new members from the local area, but if you just want to pop in to say hello then please do so.  The tea urn will be running all day and we plan to have a wide range of our boats ashore and afloat.

If you want to bring a boat, then please do, but at the moment the water is too shallow for yacht keels, so if you would like to bring one of those, please check with me closer to the date (and pray for rain in the meantime!). We are, however, mercifully weed free.

The lake is in Mill Rythe Holiday Village, Hayling Island and will be signed from the car park.  However, if you have never been there before, I can give slightly more concise directions if you PM me.

Here's hoping it's sunny on the 29th  :}

A little added information, especially if you are a Harley Davidson fan.  The New Forest Harley Davidson Owner's Group is having a rally on Hayling Island, based at Mill Rythe Holiday Village on the same day we have our open day.  They are scheduled to leave the site at 1145 for a cruise around Hayling and a public bike show elsewhere on the Island.  So if you like bikes and are planning to come to the Open Day, turn up early to see the bikes. If you don't like bikes, turn up after 1200!  :}

Re: Hayling Island Model Boat Club open day - CANCELLED

It turns out that Mill Rythe Holiday Village will be operarting a "closed site" for the Harley Davidson weekend, which means that anyone not associated with that event will be excluded.  This means we have to cancel the open day on the 29th September.   :(( :((
Apologies to anyone who was planning to come along, but we plan to reschedule in the spring.  If anyone wants to pop in any time before then, you are most welcome.  Any Sunday (except 30th September!) from 10.00 and if you need directions, PM me or go to the club website.

A shame that you are losing out to a group of posers riding Hardly Ablesons. (As called by americans on a forum for big BMW tourers.) You probably wouldn't have been able to get in for the trailers used to tow in their Milwaukie vibrators..
Real Bikers won't let friends ride Harleys. %) %)

Having checked that there are no conflicting events, we are having another go at our open day, so here's the date -

Saturday 27th April

We will be welcoming visitors from 10.30 until about 3.00 or when everyone leaves. As mentioned in the original post, we are focussing on attracting new local members, but anyone is welcome to pop in.  We now have a full lake, so if you want to bring a sailing boat, that's fine (although a Marblehead or IOM might still find some shallow spots).

As before, if anyone wants directions, please PM me.  Do come and have a cup of tea and a chat, and run your boat if you bring one along.  :-))
