HMS Clyde build
« on: September 21, 2018, 08:45:49 pm »

I think its about time I started to show my build off the HMS Clyde 1/48th, its taking a long time but I am getting their. As you can see I have done all the hull work cutting openings and fixing props shafts etc. she will have working bow thruster and stern thruster. running on two electric motors 24v
Starting the super structure from A3 Plasticard 2mm sheets taken measurements from the plans this being the first time I have done this. pictures to follow once I remember how to down size them.

Hi Stuart22,

That closes the loop. :-))

I've used Speed 850 motors running on 12volts and the model performs well, so you may not need 24v

I run my (sister ship) HMS Mersey on a pair of MFA 800 motors works for me on 12v, did try the 850's but didnt notice that much difference apart from current draw.

They do make great boats on the water at 48th scale.

The only reason for 24v is I have had the motors and speed controllers from Action for some time just need to use them. pictures will come soon to make this interesting %% dam annoying. <*<

Gents,
Good job Stuart22, hope the picture you have of mine at Nettley will help you in this good build log.

I'll update the posting of my HMS Clyde with some more close details of the model as I don't wish to interfere with this build log. This may help you both.

I will be using the fittings that come with the kit. using the davits sets these are a project in them self's and do look good more detail to add yet see below, the gun kit is not bad to but needs some work. I did get the stations made of stainless steel these are excellent and strong. the helideck surrounding gates will hopefully be working and also round the gun deck. looking forward to final painting main hull and deck.

I have decided to have the superstructures remove separately in 3 parts this will allow me to have all electrics in each section hopefully. top section all mast lights and radars. second cabin lights and bottom section working gates gun deck lights.

Decided to cover forward sides with 0.5mm plasti card for a smooth finish and to fix the angled supports with liquid weld and will do the same on each main side deck walk ways.

Very nice! These ships look impressive in 1\48 scale. Are the fitting self made, Sirmar other?
