If its sky plus you cant the remote only operates your tv volume on earlier boxes there was a control on the sky box  Menu that allowed you to  up  or down (Balance) the output  from the skybox so you did not have  a large variance going from tv to sky but that went  years back. There is usually  one on the tv  so its channels can be balanced.  The way you connect Sky to the TV can make a difference

Sounds like the Sky connection is not as connected as intended between TV (which is really just a display box) and the Sky receiver.  Important to remember that the cable has two ends.  Personally, when I worked out that I was paying over £60 per month for less than 3 hours a week on average, I gave up on them.

Hi have you checked the menu settings in your TV?  I had trouble listening on headphones until I found the sound on the TV menu was right down, easy to adjust.
