hi Neil, I don't know if your eyes are better than mine - but I couldn't see any lifting points along the length of the keel - for the lifeboat to be attached to the Davits - also no location points for the rollicks to row the boat with.   If it was an ex-lifeboat I think you would definitely see signs of this - I err on caution and think it maybe just a canny 'old' boat with a story attached to it.

I very much doubt that is a lifeboat . No lifting points very small . Looks like a rowing boat with a fake white star line flag on it. I sure they use to paint the flag on to the original boats. Why have Liverpool on it . surely you would have the ships name on it

Yes, very small. A typical lifeboat would be around 30 feet long and that looks nowhere near that.

Article from 2013

Also  and I would have thought restoring it to that level decreases its value if it was real.

Looking at these pictures it does look close in size I think.

I thought much the same...…...and the White Star Flag comes up regularly for sale on ebay, and most times some sap buys one lol...……….its a nice little boat, and with a steam engine n boiler in it would make a nice canal/river/lake day steamer...…...but how someone could try such a con is beyond belief.....

and I think most boats were stamped on the fore keelson with serial numbers as well.
