Mtronik motor

(1/1)

Trucker:
guy,s
a bit of advice and help needed, have two Mtronik 500 brushed motors that are going in my Tyne life boat, im gathering all the electric bits in readiness for the big connection, BUT, im a little confused, the data sheet says @ 12V each motor has a stall rate at 21.0A, is that 21.0 AMP, therefore my connecting wires should be at least twice that ie, 40AMP, size of wire, 8AWG,  {:-{

Hi like I said in my pm it all depends if you are using 2 speed controllers or one. Please see my pm.

You fuse the supply to the ESC(s) to respond to stall current but allow running current.  The ESCs should protect themselves against whatever the motors do at them provided they match (i.e. the ESC is intended to drive that motor).  The motors should never get into a stall condition, the fuses are there to protect the boat against any internal short inside the ESC.  As to wiring, use the same gauge as is fitted to the ESC.
