We wont even mention Gogglebox at this stage - I fell out with that programme way back - when a lass from Durham, who was on the programme, thought that Nelson's column in London was a statue of Nelson Mandela and not Nelson of HMS Victory.  Tragic that just shows what is being taught in schools today.

Gogglebox is one of the few programmes I enjoy to be honest, and that lass from your neck of the woods has gone on to bigger and better(??????) things has she not. All that shows is that you don't need brains to get on the tele these days and has nothing to do with what is being taught in schools at present.

...  The upshot is I try to eat dinner as fast as I can.
My current record for chicken, chips and salad is 3 minutes, 56 seconds!  %)

The portions are obviously too small Martin. %)

Hi Taranis, He did very well, I think just a pause in the second half where he picked up the timing again, but he made that look stylish, otherwise that is what it is all about!  Great on TV and translates to the ballroom dancing around the country.
The celebrities have professional partners and I have had the odd ocassion where after a professional demonstration the professional lady has come over to me to lead the dance into a Snowball. (This would be from a tip off from a dance teacher, treading on an expensive dress is a no-no).

It is like dancing with nothing there as a partner, so light, quite incredible.  I did have a chat once with Flavia Cacace but unfortunately not a dance.  Her partner Vincent Simone had just swept my partner off to seduce her, well that was her story as she was in her 60's!
Last year when Ruth Langford was on Strictly it was nice to hear that her husband was taking private lessons, To just stop the dance training is a big let down and then to find someone to dance with, not easy!

After I was 50 i slowly gave up being sensible and started doing the things on the 'bucket list'  I learnt to dance and got confident doing it.  I once danced Argentine tango with my partner in a London underground passageway where they authorised buskers.  He was playing great tango and we later asked him to play at a birthday party!
Afterwards we took our bow and went on our way.  You do have to be careful no one nicks your bag though!

We were the first dancers on the dance floor of the Cunard Queen Victoria and there is a distant photo of us in the magazine Shipping.
Bucket list still to do.

Next trip to Oz I am going to get on one of the long Zip Wire runs and I have been promised a surprise trip, possibly Tasmania, fingers crossed.
regards Roy

Hi all don't forget to vote for Faye!
John Jules and that jive, that was really something, it is so hard to get the bounce.  Stacey the showgirl, really good.
The street dance at the end took me by complete surprise, another rabbit out of the hat.

Must get back to making some sails!

An earlier post about the dislike of tennis reminded me of many years ago when we had an over active dog, a Border Collie (we used to call her a Borderline Collie as she had no 'papers').  My wife and the dog would watch tennis together, heads going left then right etc.  I hasten to add we both loved the dog and she was one of the family.

Back in the days of VHS I made a 3 hour recording of tennis matches at Wimbledon.  We used to play it for the dog and she would sit there with her own tennis ball in her mouth head going left, right etc.

Then it was over the park with the tennis ball, at least at Wimbledon the players never ate the ball.

Another nice recollection Roy  :-))
Is it just me or were the judges wrong tonight? I feel collusion was at play and Shaun should have walked.
Craig is a complete tw@t at times but I must respect his very if over critical eye and he voted for Vik so at odds with the others completely. BBC searching for more publicity through controversy.

Yes I was surprised as well, I thought his footwork in the second half was rather suspect.  I think he won't last much longer though.
The idiot sports presenter who won a year or so back was a crap dancer, popularity got him through.  Zoe Ball should have won as well, but a certain cricketer won, possibly due to an unthought out scoring system which I challenged the BBC with, I got a long reply, but it just high lighted the problem!  They do not do it now.
The actors who do Strictly treat it as another 'talent' they can use again and maybe get a part that would otherwise have gone by them.  Also the concentration on them, as in X Factor, makes them familiar, often undeservedly so.
I recall Rachel Riley doing well for a couple of weeks and then her husband came in to watch and she went to pieces after that.  Later divorced.
The problem with Strictly especially for the young ladies is that this is the most continuous attention from a man they may ever have had.
When you have been dancing for many years you get to know the 'local' dancers, sometimes you bump into them on dancing themed holidays.  As most of your activities are being watched by someone you soon become known one way or another.  I of course led a blameless existence.

Noticed its been quiet again - I.A.C.G.M.O.O.H. ITV for two weeks may be why, but that just finished, my excuse is the kitchen, the wife convalescing since major surgery and trying to get work to finish my hours off.

Hi all, I watched the Strictly final, the winner was well deserved as she had not the dance experience of the other 2 girls.  I split my vote between her and Faye.  Faye was a member of the pop group Steps, remember 'Tragedy'?  This was bias as Faye is daughter of one of our club members, but she lives oop north so never met her.

Stacey's professional partner Kevin was in tears as he had been in the final several times but this was his first win.  It was a good show and the dancing just seems to get better each year. Stacey Dooley is a reporter for BBC3 and lives or comes from Luton, some might recognise the accent?

Excellent end to a great season if not the best so far. I would have been happy for any of them to have won for different reasons. I think the runners up took it very very well  :-)

I too have been kitchen fitting myself but that is now behind me so I hope to do a bit between camping trips and part time at work.
Might not be long before her indoors finds another project for me  :((

A lot of viewers may have thought Stacey forgot her knickers in the Passo  {-)
Seems it was a skin coloured leotard from an earlier dance  O0  not enough time to change or a wardrobe dept fail

Hi I know what you mean but as you say 'nude' colour tights.  I have noticed that all the dancers have slightly less revealing dresses than before.
Maybe that is why Ola left?

I loved Bruno's faux pas, referring to 'Stacey's greatest (t)its instead of hits.

I remember going to a dance when I was in training in the RAF at West Kirby.  The girls wore boots there.  They were tougher than us poor blokes. You sat in fear in case one of them came for you, there was no escape, we left early.
By god those were the days!!!
