Sorry peeps..anuver Q..Is plywood still used for decking etc,or is plasticard etc more favourable? (Asks he who has a tin plate hull lol) I have other ideas,but wondering if marine ply is still available.Used to buy it cut off a large roll at the model shop in East London,back in the day!

Don't buy the stuff you find in DiY stores, it's usually poor quality.

I use birch faced ply all the time from local model shops...…..the grade of timber and the adhesive used to glue the layers are almost [I say almost] the same grade as that used in "marine" grade ply, and will last a lifetime on a model, as you will never ever have your deck immersed in water for a fraction of the time that a marine ply built real boat stands in water......and birch faced ply is one shed load cheaper than marine, in the thicknesses that you will pay for birch faced.  O0 O0
