Brian, The box structure is actually wood sheathing to protect the hull. It lays pretty much in line with the lift area of the forward boom. And yes, it was laundry day....

I tend to do a lot of building at the weekends, then ponder what i have achieved during the week, then adapt, redo or accept the following weekend

As others have said it will be carrying on previous winter projects with another one added this year and the possibility of another. They are all Faireys at a scale of 1:12 :-

Swordsman 33, Huntsman 31 and River Cruiser 23 all almost at skinning stage.
Fisherman 27 at drawing stage.
Huntsman 31 likely to be added - getting drawings scanned so that I can "trace" over them on the PC and print them at will.

Hi David, do not be daunted!  Algebra is mostly logic with x's and y's.  The dreaded word 'unknown' is simply something you are working towards.

When I was about 10 and about to attend a secondary school I pestered my older cousin to tell me what 'x' equalled, as I thought it would save me a lot of trouble in the future!
The last few years I have used it just once per year.  We have an annual exhibition and sell similar tickets to adults and children.  If you know how much money was taken in tickets and the number of tickets sold then you can work out how many adults and how many children bought tickets.
Otherwise it does not come into frequent use!
Good luck with it though.
kind regards,
Roy

At the moment I have nothing boating related planned for winter but do have a large modelling project. This is to replace the engine on a 1/4 scale Boeing Stearman biplane. The present engine is  a 43cc petrol 2 stroke and it is to be replaced with a 90cc 4 stroke petrol 7 cylinder radial. This will replace the plastic dummy engine with the real thing but will need some modification to the front of the plane to fit the new engine. It might seem to be a large increase in engine size from 43 to 90cc but both turn the same size propellor at similar rpm.

Not quite, I think you would need a 1/3 scale for that. %) Jim
