Battery Tester / Monitor
« on: September 22, 2007, 06:15:34 pm »

The other day I was shown a very neat little battery tester / monitor. About five little lights ranging from green through amber to red - charge your battery - the leads from your 'tester' to the battery, green if charged, red if not, amber if part charged. leave it attached, and you have a constant display as to your battery charge level.
I want one! problem is when I phoned, I obviously had the wrong number. Does anyone know the right one?

I have something similar on my full size boat but it only works on 12 volts. A 6 volt one would be useful if it is available.

I built a 12 volt one from a kit, some years ago, I think from Maplins.

It's on the 1:1 at the moment but from memory it has six LEDs

Yes, nothing complicated FLJ - what we need is a sight glass like they have on boilers that we can clip onto the battery and see at a glance just how much electricity is left in it... There! I've done half the development work for you - all you have to do is to make it work.  ;)

Sinjon, is this the sort of thing that you are looking for ?

ebay no. 260160985671

Plugs into spare channel of Rx and can monitor either 4.8v or 6v.  Not expensive either.

I'm using one on my latest model. Very handy to have around.

Terry.

PS Admiral Bish - you can't half be a pilchard sometimes........ I tried that, but the bench got covered in sticky gunk when I drilled the holes.......and then it started to melt...... You owe me five feet of Focus's finest Formica, OK?

Focus Finest Formica - isn't that an alliteration? Or did you mean something slightly different? ;)

Actually, that's a really good link, I've added it to my favourites. I never realised that stuff was on the market. Learn something new every day!

Thanks for the Ebay ref Terry, I got it for £3.70. plus p&p. Seems a bargain.
If anyone else is interested, the same seller has another one coming up.
