RC Conversion including motors etc for an Italeri PT109 Kit
« on: November 11, 2018, 07:27:14 am »

My name is Phil Rundle, I live in Australia on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and I am building an Italeri PT 109 Kit No 5613 and would like to convert it to RC. Knowledge is limited although I can be regarded as a Gray Nomad.
Any help and advice would be appreciated

There are various 'Plastic Magic' conversions described on the Model Boats website such as this one.

I don't know where you source your stuff from but if it is the UK then SHG Models are very helpful in advising on and supplying running gear for plastic model conversions.https://www.modelboats.co.uk/news/article/plastic-magic-mas-568-4a-serie/13847

Hi Phil my model is fitted with 3 M F A 385 brushed motors. Prop shafrs are 2mm from S H G models they are in the uk.The props are from Protean Design again they are in the uk power is from a 11.1 lipo battery. I think the props are 20mm diameter some items will need some modification. Please pm me for more information I am willing to provide some sketches to show modifications.

HI Phil,
Sunshine coast model boat club meet Sunday mornings at Sippy Downs in the university grounds.
They are a friendly club and a gold mine of information.

Thanks Wizard for your info.
I am aware of the Suncoast Model Boat club and have been to their lake a few times, looking and talking to people.
In fact one of the guys put me on to Model Boat Mayhem.
Best bit of info I have received for a while.
Stan has been very helpful with his work and I will probably pay them a visit in a few weeks.
It's only 30 mins by car from home.
Regards
