As one of his old followers , I can say that Keith Appleton has a great skillness and a great sens of (English) humor.
I am jealous of him because he has 10 times more followers than me, as I have no skillness...

I to watched Keith Appleton's video a steamboat named Edith and it got me thinking of what I would like to try to build next.
I do build model RC boats and a Clyde Puffer was my thought after watching the video to run the boat I wanted to look at a steam plant for the project .
Then again trying to source a steam plant it seems steam is very expensive and all of the steam plants I found are outside Canada so costs go up with exchange.
For a beginner to steam is there a manufacture of a unit that may be less expensive but still work well or a place to source a used unit still in good service.

How big is the model , in length , that you want to build (imperial or metric)? some engines like the PM Research No8 will drive a hull up to 50 inch. Also do you prefer wobblers (oscillating) which are simpler or reciprocating which are for the purists.

The Puffer would be 1/32 at about 24" and I'm not sure still researching open to suggestions.

Hi Rick,

Be very careful of the weight and where it sits in the hull. I reckon a Puffer at 1:32 could be under 12lbs and that could be "interesting"
