its just started phase 2 trials of the F35 so not for a while yet I would expect.


the final phase 3 trials are scheduled for 2019, so it may be away for christmas

That would be a very long time away I would have thought. I did see a reference to a 3 month deployment when she sailed initially which would bring her back for Christmas. She also has a lot of civilian staff aboard for the trials and wbile these could possibly be flown home it would mean they would not be available for continuing the trials.

The Portsmouth News appears to believe that the intention is to return before Christmas, weather and other circumstances permitting.

Thanks, I will keep an eye on th QHM and Portsmouth News sites nearer the time.

Just bought new tickets for the dockyard at 50% off this week. Present ones don't run out until 20 Dec but new ones are activated on your first visit at any time.

Straddled two Christmas's sometimes.

Only did one deployment away and also covering the 77 firemans strike in Worthing over crimbo periods but when in port or shore bases I always volunteered for crimbo duty and taking late leave.  Nice easy two weeks over the festive time with little to do then regaling everyone returning with cries of SLIB.

Now confirmed that planned return to Portsmouth for QE is Monday 10th at 13:20.
