Fireboat Gamma II
« on: December 11, 2018, 10:13:54 pm »

Does anyone know any history behind this vessel? There seems to be a reasonable amount on the Massey Shaw fireboat that helped to save London and in particular St Paul’s cathedral during the Blitz. Gamma II was also based in London at the same time but I can’t find any history behind her. I’ve found a rebuild of a possible sister boat called Beta III during a search on google but I’d like to know a bit more on Gamma if possible. I bought a hull from Adam of Mountfleet Models because it was something that interested me but I’d love to know if there is any more information or even a book on the subject.
Many thanks.

Thanks Dave

That’s all I could find too, other than some slightly fuzzy pictures of the forward deck, the fire monitor, and a side view. The plans provided with the hull are good and judging by the pictures they are accurate.
I was thinking of contacting the London Fire Brigade to see if they have a history of her.
