Thank you. Looks much tidier and the bow looks not too shabby with the softened lines. A lot to sand back off for other parts yet but a better starting point.

I made a start on the side fenders by first sanding and filing the gel coat until it was a straight line bow to stern.

2 length of equal 90 styrene

The rubber strip is from MMM and not used on the Portgarth but finally found a home.

I did the same on the stern of Portgarth but this is 12mm and a mere £5.60
I plan to epoxy the associated parts to it and when painted no one will be any wiser.
The deck is 12mm thick where it is bolted %%

12mm thick  {-) %%   That makes it even better .........I reckon it might win a towing competition  O0   Nice work Andy!

Cheers Chris  :-)  The styrene angle is 5x5 and I ruined one piece so its another trip to MSL on Tuesday for me  :embarrassed:

The fenders won't be final fitted until painting is completed and will be fixed with stixall.

With the aid of this ....

and practice you can achieve this

Bow bulwark ribs from Z profile

Finally made use of my proxxon table saw

Started fitting deck supports for hatches. 15 minute Zpoxy

The 4mm paxolin ready for 2mm planking

When cutting with a jigsaw I heavily score the surface for two reasons. One its clearly visible and secondly by cutting alongside it the piece you want doesn't chip.
I use the same Tamiya scoring tool as for styrene

Can just see the timbered section

The two screws will be concealed by superstructure. Their purpose is to force that section of deck to follow the curve of the outer sections. This works very well and as a bonus holds the deck without adhesive so its still removable.

The support in front of the timbered section is reinforced so it can be a carrying point too.

The Amati walnut planks have the smallest inconsistency of thickness that gives a nice texture of realism. I'll probably use matt lacquer on this

In an effort to get the hull exterior completed I had to decide on keels or no keels  {:-{

By end of week I want the lower hull lacquered and the water line marked so the schottels can be final fitted and bath tested.

I thought I'd give it a go but unsure of the material

I'm happy and that's what counts

Fender work nearly finished

And repeat ......

I thought I'd done for the day but something was niggling. The bow fender was too big and the shelf it sat on wasn't parallel. So to kill two birds with one stone I've fitted a new lower shelf of styrene on Stixall to make it parallel and reduce the size. So the 32mm O.D. pipe is shelved in favour of a newly ordered 27mm O.D.

I'll trim this up tomorrow when its set.

Apologies for the slight detour, but have you changed your picture hosting site, or some other parameters?  I can see all your photos up to and including reply #133, but then nothing, just blank boxes.  Except the two MarineTraffic.com pictures, they do appear.  Does anyone else have the same problem?  I don't have this problem on any other thread.  Very odd.
If this looks like developing into a long discussion, I will ask Martin to move this to the Chit Chat section as I definitely don't want to interrupt your flow.

All pictures are visible at my end Greg.
All my pictures have been hosted in the same place for over a decade, no changes

Just picked up the extra styrene strip for the fender and some other useful parts.
The Graupner 1:32 deck crane £6.50  is ideal for the RIB

Can you see them in the link I posted?

Yes (I guess the fitting of the bilge keels is the sequence I am missing), so not sure what's going on.  Don't worry, it's my problem, not yours.  It seems everyone else sees the pics just fine.

Greg
Edit:  Rather bizzarely, I posted the above, then scrolled up and there they were in glorious Technicolor! Must be something odd my end.

Consumes an amazing amount of primer  %%

Here you can see my modification of shortening the inner bush so an extra external O ring can be fitted in addition to the internal one. Captive in the created recess

Left protruding enough to prevent metal to metal contact.

Unfortunately I don't know when I'll get to lacquer it, the forecast is 7 degrees  :((

Plenty to go at though  {-)
