Thank you Dave

I just found these stanchions in my stock. There are 52 so hopefully enough I will have to do a count up.

I got them for Portgarth but did them a different way and then forgot I had them.

For effect pics

I've also ordered some tube and pre formed bends to try replicating the risers to the fire monitors

Cheers Phil. I like them too and can be used to add a bit of humour when posed in a group. Also better than an out of scale coke can  %%

Today these servo travel doublers arrived from Flytron. Much simpler than the MRW offering in that it's a straight plug and play.

There is always a way to do that awkward solder

Tamiya fine grey primer. I use this purely because of the brass parts

First I tried satin black but decided matt was preferable

The roof is now attached with magnets and four alignment studs

I know it's meant to be black but it seems such a shame to paint the brass work of the hand rails etc Andy

Thank you Mark. This model just keeps on giving no matter what it might resemble, creative licence is a pleasure.

Dave it has just got to be but I have many hundreds of pictures of naked brass to look at  :-)

Watching TV until after strictly so might not be any update tonight

Great show tonight that was  :-)

So this is what I use for info. Most vessels have a generous amount of photo submissions on marine traffic dot com

So you can see there is a lot to add yet and lighting would be far too much to ask as it is bristling and I'd rather have a neat and tidy build than a nightmare of exposed out of scale connections. Each to their own but not for me on this model at this scale

I've started adding the proliferation of aerials using brass tube and 1mm carbon rod that will be painted white

BTW I dropped the mast this evening and it did not break  :P

Last one today.
Now the roof is fixed with magnets it will be pretty hard to lift off when windows are fitted,
So I've chosen to make the Graupner compass binnacle the item to grab. (lovely 1:32 item  :-)) ) if you can find them now.
This requires that it be fixed substantially rather than rely on glue so I have turned a piece of scrap dowel to 8mm as an insert to drill and tap 3mm
I allow .5mm tapping in wood and if its not secure apply CA to the tapped hole and re tap when its gone hard.
So this was drilled 2.5 and tapped 3mm

It doesn't feel like I've done much today but all the little bits add up and take time.

What I need is a source of fairly priced nav lights in a suitable size and colours etc. Many of the retail offerings are either too big or overpriced and I need LOADS  %%
Or I might have to make my own

EDIT I've just searched for clear acrylic rod and found options that will save a lot of money

Hi Nord
Having given it more thought I will use clear acrylic tube, probably 5mm O.D, 1mm wall and paint the inside as appropriate with Tamiya transparent paint colours.

Edit
I can make circular tops bottoms and dividers with a hole punch in thin styrene.
I will use C section styrene for the backs where the light is directional

No they are solid rod and I cannot find diameters small enough but I can find tube.

Hi Andy,
Like the H. I P. Plastic sheets have you looked on the HINDLEYS of SHEFFIELD I know they did them in colours. I know lights don't rock your boat but as you say there's lots of on tugs so I normally make one and then make a silicon mould and cast them in water clear resin often putting a resin colour dye in the mix and put a right coloured L E D in before it sets.
                Regards Howard.

Ok Andy, I thought it was strange Andy fitting lights, I have fitted lighting on several boats but only sail in the day so in reality they never get used so these days I also don't bother with them.  :-))

Andy for one minute I thought you were going to take plunge and install a full lighting system. Maybe one day who knows.
