Only the deck cabin front railings remaining to do.
I have used 60 Billings stanchions so far and have just received another 20 which might just be enough.

One of those occasional days where I was short on inspiration so didn't do much.
Started looking at more fixtures to make but kept being drawn to the davit. It is without success that I find suitable pictures to work from but I have since this photo started making it up.

EDIT I tried reading the name on the Davit to Google it but not a single picture has enough definition.
The motor and drum pictured are the uppy downy bit. I'm doing the roundy roundy bit now.

Yes its one from the Ocean Andy, that's the problem when the only photos you have are off the internet. I was very fortunate when I built the Maltby a friend off mine was her skipper when she was on the Tyne, I took about 300 detailed photos  :-))

Some of the pictures I have seen were confusing but I've worked out in my mind that the strange objects are counterweights on the remote cable operated control switches. So I will not be going into that level of detail.

All fits suitably now

Today I continued with the RIB by first turning a couple of tail ends on the lathe. Then I found a picture of a generic boat to copy the internals. Seats etc will be made and fitted after painting.

Thank you Howard. I found if you google Tug boat winches it brings up hundreds of variations. I guess making it from the minds eye is much easier than from a tech drawing.
Anyhow that is my first so I'll regard it as my apprenticeship for the mega ones yet to create.
All the winches are electric and I started with motors from cornwall models but again suffering stock shortages  :((

My friend Steve in Ireland has come to the rescue by 3D printing me some to scale and far more realistic  8)

I've just remade and finally fitted the deck cabin rear wall. The original was not good enough but I could not be bothered tearing straight into doing another so some weeks have passed and I'm happy with it this time.
I wanted to make the ventilation grilles removable to make painting easier and that has now been done satisfactorily
So this wall now has a recess that the grille fits in with a single screw

If it helps you with your davit:

Not sure what the pole at the end is but it could be an anti-two block device but looks a bit exposed
The small wire looks like to lead back to a counterweight on the winch drum, so a person in the RIB can launch without power to the davit motor, as usually required for lifeboats
The stainless block on the bridle looks like a release block. Can't release under load. So the RIB needs to be floating or stowed

...at the risk of forgetting details again (can't remember whether it's class or flag state) but depends whether that RIB is classed as a MOB boat, FRC or tender what the rules on launching are.

Anyway, looks good so far.
