I think your padeye on deck would be used for the gob rope. Possibly what that tugger is for. The wire would go from the tugger to the link on the padeye then up to a running link /masterlink on the main winch line.  The tugger then pulls the effort from the main line further aft or further forwards to the main winch as the wire on the tugger is taken out or in.

That's my memory of it anyway, and my memory's quite patchy these days!  Apologies if wrong or it's useless info.

This is an early picture from a Facebook friend Tony. This is before the lead was cut down in size and the drum was changed to underwound.

Hello, I'm looking at the pictures of the Rib, haven't found the write up yet,.
How did you make the Rib, I'm guessing it's off a laser printer?
Thanks,
Nord.

There isn't a write up Nord. It is styrene tube and flat sheet. You make it from your minds eye so it looks ok to you.
There is a series of pictures here
https://techno.smugmug.com/Stevns-Arctic/i-GJRbw7w

I guess I made the outline of the floor first then with the forward half curved upwards I made segments of tube to fit the shape. Then made a keel and skinned it with thinner styrene.

I looked at the pictures and it crossed my mind that it could be styrene.

Edit out strange text that appeared.

Thank you

In the old days I might have done a lengthy step by step with a picture of each part but as 30 minutes editing remains in place I just cannot be bothered. I don't see why I should spend all my spare time creating each post in MS WURD as suggested just so I can fit the forum limitations.
That's not directed at you Nord

I struggled to re engage today. Spent the morning sorting out things for family then nothing in the post to finish the cart. It got right up to 10 o'clock tonight to make a move.
Just two more window frames to make and fit then the roof can be painted  :-)

Good larf  :-)

Still counting down the windows and primered the roof. Not much filling required fortunately and I found a little bit of original squadron putty  :-))  making life much easier.

Cheers Howard. The next step is to choose a suitable material for the 36 windows. I think making them individually to fit each of the 36 openings seems another long job but really it is less fiddly than making and fitting the frames was.
Meanwhile I'm going to look at the wheelhouse interior.

EDIT
Job done, I've ordered an A5 sheet of 2mm plexiglass with protective film both sides. £7.27 delivered.

Spent time tidying and rearranging the shop today largely due to the new chair  {-)

This is the wheelhouse plan, how it really looks I don't know but it will do as a foundation.

A first round of filling and priming was done and a second round will make it ready for gloss white.

I realised today that the doors will be easier to deal with stand alone. So I managed to remove them without harm to treat as separate entities.

I'm following the subject about your Portgarth and I'm impressed with the quality of your work above the deck  - I understand better knowing that you do not pay too much attention below the waterline

Now I'm waiting the beginning of the superstructures construction for the Stevns Arctic.

Xtian

A long time has passed, what do you think?
In that time I had the title changed but as much as a tried it persists in looking quite like Stevn's Arctic  %%

In the same breath it removes any criticism of whether it does or not  :-)

P.S. I do hope you are well and still a member  :-))

I finally started on the furniture. For a long time I didn't understand why there was insufficient head room on the interior stairs. Today the penny dropped, on the plan the chart table hides the rest of the opening so it is much longer than is visible  {-)

Crew think I'm dragging my feet  :embarrassed:

Moving on I now have a desk and a cupboard. The cupboard hides a wheelhouse fixing screw. All four screws will be covered with removable furniture.

One of four control desks made. Again these hide screws that were careful placed in early planning.
I have no details of height for these but I have made them low so sticks will be right for chair arm rests (675mm to top surface)
Not having pictures is a real bind.

I've ordered 2 captains chairs from Mark. I may need to fit them on runners.
Saves a lot of work and they look pretty good  O0
