It's not a kit Nord. There are now 1,403 photos in the gallery if you wish to see how they were made. All my soldering is soft.
Thank you

Pardon me, yes. Its not a kit. I just thought all those shapes you have for the winch looked quite complicated to fabricate.
All the more impressive and very interested that you soft soldered all the parts. Much more doable than silver soldering. I shall try one day.
Nord.

I'm happy with the tugger winch cage now painting completed but satisfaction with the winch itself still evades me. I've altered it three times already and its still in a state of flux.

I don't think I ever pointed out the advantages of the paxolin deck along the way? I think I've relied on the photos to speak for themselves.

The extremely high resistance to water absorption, the inherent strength and the ease of painting of Paxolin make wood a desperate measure IMHO.
I rarely if ever fix anything with glue. All my assemblies including railings either push fit snug or I drill and tap for machine screws (stainless of course)

There will be absolutely no cracks appear in this deck! no matter how wet.

Hi Phil I take it you mean the crew? They are Graupner and increasingly difficult to obtain especially at 1:32 scale.

I have a couple of people who are very argumentative against paxolin but I believe that is more because they don't like me rather than the material  {-)  and they argue about everything

Apologies I did mean the crew ( I am really bad )
I have had a few "discussions " regarding paxolin over the years and have probally had the same response, I still use it and love working with it, lets keep working with it (well I still have a lot )

(No you're not  {-)  )

I know at least one other who has taken the plunge with this material on a build he is starting  O0   Luke  :-))

It can be bought very cheap for a 1200x1200 sheet of 6mm inc delivery.

I was fortunate enough to purloin mine free before retiring  {-)  and I still have enough to build the Maltby tug.

I've just assembled all parts made to date for a photo shoot. Still a vast amount of work but looking quite advanced now.

Because she's so big there is a lot of fish eye on full shots. Looks better in the flesh

The final railings in progress. Complicated due to the angled front. All stanchion being the same length so the angle shortens them but this is overcome, pictures in the gallery.

Looking good. Ref the paxolin thing, this kind of material is common enough with European and professional modellers, glass fibre sheet and copper clad. No invention there. Nowt wrong with it as long as you have means to cut it  Believe it or not I worked for someone building small electrical panels who wouldn't use it. Each to their own. That guff about 3D printing, honestly presumably they would have shot you down for not making your own hull moulding and presumably the same people who fettle everything and make a cast from it after, but that's OK?  Ignore it.

Rock on Tommy!

I noticed quite some time ago that I'd dropped a clanger. Actually I've made loads but some can be lived with and some cannot.
Last night I felt in the mood  O0

Fixed just like that
