Thanks for the pics.  I live 60 miles inland from the Houston Ship Channel, so small chance of seeing any local ships today.

 :-))
I thought the cable or pipe laying vessel to be very interesting and a lovely reflective panorama shot with my iPhone
A shame I did not bring my dslr as I would have printed that for framing

About 2 hrs before you posted I was on the other side of the Forth at Aberdour looking across to Leith!
Great pictures of Apache II!!

I was on the team that delivered the donor vessel from the yard in Spain then converted her into the pipelayer back in 2009-2010 out in Finland.  Last week I was talking with another ex-Technip colleague and we were wondering if she's still mothballed in Leith.  Bit sad to see but there's no work for her -for a long time now.  Last I heard she was to be scrapped.

I was offshore with Acergy / SS7 for 4 years on the Osprey (scrapped now).  I never saw the Rocky 1 up close -just in the field.  I'm surrised she's still going, I thought there were allot of maintenence issues on the dive system a few years back.

Good pics, bring back memories. I took one that day from Aberlour but towards the bridges, the tug and oil tanker I saw aren't visible much.

Seen the oil tanker today but too far for an iPhone unfortunately
Nice info RST  :-))
Heading home in the morning thankfully as I’d prefer to stay at home building

LoL, if anyone wants to know how she was converted I can still remember most of it.  It wasn't a particulary easy project! LoL.

Have a safe trip back home,

Rich

Thanks Rich
Info like what type of pipe and it’s use would be interesting and how long a lay could she do in one trip

HI ALL
This is little trip to the Hobart wharf as four of the yachts are in from the Sydney to Hobart Race.
Also a few other boats around with a lot more coming for the Wooden Boat Festival.

Hi All
More !!!
It's 25 degrees with a nice sea breeze and only a few clouds in the sky.
We have the Wooden Boat Festival next year and that's cracking show with a lot of very nice boats.
The last few pics will give you an idea of what's on show!!!
