Chris
thanks
Forward lift is an access hatch, the side lift will work eventually.

Latest add on, first of the 50foot HF antennae mast, can be fixed in vertical or lowered, and no they will not be r/c controlled :} :}

THE pics of the phantoms an bucks look great Bob how many are you gonna fit on her ? an are they kits or resin ? as when I fitted 50 planes on my Nimitz I used kits as resin were way to heavy an I also dint fit the big antennae masts as they kept getting knocked off
        but shes lookin good

Chris Maritime Models on line company, these are 10mm and £6 for 10
Shapeways is 3d, the corvus were less for a pair than the scale warships set, so very pleased.

Bit more on CVA-01, got most of the air group on board, missing two at moment, due to not being built, as can be seen, Wessex helicopters, Phantoms ,Buccaneers and a visiting COD Gannett from HMS Hermes who was soon to be replaced by CVA-02 HMS Duke of Edinburgh.  The one shot shows the idea of being able to taxi around the Island while landing takes place, helping to speed things up.  The aircraft will be tarted up and decals applied later, just wanted to get them done.

JohnV hope you like how she is shaping up.

      Hello Bob,
I haven't been in touch for some time but rest assured I am still following your build. It is excellent, and interesting at the same time. I was always sceptical about having room behind the island to manoeuvre aircraft but having seen a model on it I now believe it fits!

not a lot, apart from building the last Buccaneer, thank goodness, also have built a carry case for the island. To cold and I have till first week in March to complete a ships history for the RN, very important contract for me, but hopefully back to her soon, still want her wet so can finally sort ballast, which means certain areas can finally be sealed, then after that final bits and then her big day which I hope Johnv will come to.

Picture shows the automatic bilge pump system (many thanks to JohnV), which works a treat.

Special servos for the lift arrived today and tested the theory and it works, just need sparky to finish in the garage and some building can take place.

If she is sailing in sea water & springs a leak........the [saline] salty water will hit the 2 contacts in the switch & conduct electricity or make the circuit thus turning the bilge pump on and saving HMS CVA-01 from a murky future

[but only if the pump is positive displacement or and self priming and can suck about 5 1/2" of air column?  %) ]

Sorry, but my best guess......Derek  :embarrassed:

I installed it then deliberately added water to hull interior and pleased to say it goes like a good un. If anything the flow would credit to a fire engine 😂

Well at long last the side lift works, using chains just as she would have and same as the current QE
Next are the antennae which are coming on nicely, basing them on the ones used on HMS Victorious, which use rack and pinion to raise and lower.
Video of the lift in operation, still WIP but very happy so far.
