Images and short video today.  The images show the port forward embarkation port, which does have detail but as its not illuminated its to dark to see. while the video is a 35 foot work boat, being lowered, it normally is stored in the flight deck sponson, and a parallel today is the current QE class stow boats the same.  The motor is not the final one but the actual one is same design, just more rpm, ignore the bits hanging from underneath, :}

It looks like you've made an excellent job of lowering and raising the boat with the speed of descent and on an even keel - super job with that mechanism - well impressed with it Bob  :-))

thanks Chris, the working features are very basic, a 2rpm motor with a shaft running the full width of the gap, and thats it , controlled by a on/off/on switch, keep it simple if you can, will take a pic later for you

I don't know if this will help you, but there is a nice long article, with plan diagrams, in the 2014 edition of warship, published by Conway.

Don't laugh ......

It you have ever been in the foredeck anchor machinery space in a 100,000 tonner when the anchor is hoisted & housed ...the mechanical growns & echoing thumps are memorable

Your model of CVA-01 sounds remarkably like this  :-))

Hi Bob

I’ve just been reading about some what-if aircraft and it’s a real shame that 1/96 scale isn’t a more prevalent scale for aircraft kit companies!
Imagine a replacement COD Gannet with a COD Dominie! It actually was considered and sales brochures were made by Hawker Siddeley. They were going to fit an arrestor hook, strengthened undercarriage and catapult hooks. In a little twist the aftermarket kit company who is making a conversion set for the Airfix 1/72 Dominie T1 has included an inflight refuelling probe too.
It would look very different and a certain talking point about the air wing on board!

Sort of- just much smaller aircraft! Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) was taken up by Gannets in the Royal Navy. The proposed Dominie COD could carry engines and other spares in its cargo bay. I think the reason it was never taken up was that it didn’t have folding wings.

That'd be Freightdog, an excellent company with a genius modeller to make their masters.

I have that conversion kit for the Airfix kit and it's superb. It might even work with the longer Matchbox HS125-600 too, which would have made an even better COD aircraft.

I agree, they are fantastic-I’ve bought two different sets by Freightdog for the Airfix Dominie- the COD variant and the RN Weapons Trainer.
I have to admire Colin of Freightdog for his quality and he even sent out two Fire Streak missiles as an addendum for the kits that were supposed to be purchased at the cancelled Telford show.

He's a lovely chap Colin. I used to meet up and talk to a mutual friend about stuff at a Model show in Farnborough High school each year.

The mutual friend 'might' be the designer as I remember him using wood shavings to recreate the plywood effect on the fuselages of WW1 aircraft! It looked so real. I got in touch with Colin about getting in touch with our mutual friend and mentioned the situation regarding lack of 1:96th scale aircraft but obviously kits take time and money to develop, so I am sure that if sufficient orders were guaranteed, he might consider it, though I am in no way pushing agendas.
