I should have waited a couple hours more for my eyes to settled down after being dilated, got eye surgery coming up next week.  The carrier is completed now, minus aircraft.  I have started to build my squad.  Two Douglas sub chasers are on deck and one Skyraider.  So far, I have 30 more to build and add decals too. the Squad will be A-4's, A-1 Skyraiders, F-8 Crusaders and two UH-2 Sea Sprite Helicopters.  Most of the Skyraiders will have wings folded and on deck.  Again, I am impressed with the kit detail on the aircraft. The additonal Skyraiders and A-4's are resin cast with PE for landing gear and props.  Sorry for the blurry pics.  I'll do better next time.  Cheers,  Dennis

time has gone into building aircraft.  All my Skyraiders are built and painted, just need decals added. Working on Crusaders now. Very tedious work and slow.  But who is in a hurry... right?  23deg and blowing snow outside.. happy to be in and working on my model.  Dennis

Tku sir.  I do spend alot of time with this hobby.  Very rewarding for me.  Been staying warm nicely, as long as the power stays on. We lost it for a couple hours last night, but just piled on the blankets and hugged the cats.  Classic NorthEaster blowing now with the sun out, clear and cold, in the low 20's.  Drive slow.  Dennis

Luckily our ice and snow had all thawed by Sunday evening but of course it hasn't been as biblical here as it has been in the US.

got decals on one of my F-8's and mounted it to the port elevator.  Adding decals is going to take a good deal of time.  I need to order more for the extra aircraft I have added.  Dennis

I hate to mention this but in case you hadn't noticed, the "stars and bars" are on upside down.

My USS Intrepid model is now finished.  One thing remaining is to add a "Tilly Crane", which I've ordered from a 3D printing company.  I'll try to get some closer, detailed pictures after I install that crane.

I will be off the forum for a while, as my next project is moving on to building a 3/4"=1' Guillows model of the infamous "Spitfire" fighter of WW2.  I have always loved that aircraft and built a flying model when I was a kid.  This will be a static build with as much detail as I can add.  I enjoy doing an airplane now and then out of wood and tissue.  The new kits these days are cleaner and easier to build, since the frames and ribs are now laser cut, very cleanly.  I will be learking out there to see what you gents are up to.  Build on and enjoy yourselves, keeping the ships of yesteryear alive.  Cheers!  :}   Dennis

Dennis, Spectacular work as usual. Good luck with your surgery. It will take a couple of weeks for your eyes to settle down. Enjoy the break...try some snow shoveling like us other mortals.Jonathan

hahah.... tks!  The Spit is coming along just fine.  I'm having to scratch build cockpit detail as their are no detail kits out there at 3/4"=1' scale.  I'm also trying to find a scale 3 bladed prop.

I've had enough snow for this old body.  Had a friend come over and dig me out this last time.  More coming I hear.  Oh well.  Compared to East coasters, this is nothing.

Left eye is on the 27th.  Right eye is healing and amazing clarity.

Build-on!  Dennis
