Model Slipway 1/72nd Puffer Wanted
« on: December 21, 2018, 04:54:00 PM »

Does anyone have a Model Slipway 1/72nd Puffer kit built up they would like to sell?  I only need static but would consider an RC version if it is reasonable enough.

Many thanks for the offer, which I would have considered, however travel to and from Bristol would just about double that cost in fuel alone!!  If you stripped the excess weight out of it and packed it securely in a strong box you could probably send it easily for around ten quid UPS.  I've just sent a large parcel of Christmas presents to my niece, which came in just under 7 kg for just over a tenner.

Thanks anyway.

Does it have to be a MS puffer?  Dean's do a vac form 1/72 as both a full kit and a basic vac form only. Okay it's not a built one but easy enough to assemble if it ends being the only other option.

Very many thanks for the help and the post.  I know the Dean's one and I know it would take a lot more work to get it to a similar standard of detailing as the MS one. It is actually for a railway layout so the level of detail is probably the most important aspect of it.

If it's a water line static you're after how about this at 1:76 pretty near 1:72

Now that's very interesting.  I didn't know Scalescenes did one.  I'm not the greatest fan of card models as they lack so much surface detail however it does present a basis for additional detail to be added and for six pounds you can't go wrong to at least give it a try.

Very many thanks for that, I think I'll see just what the downloads look like and give it a go.  I've got additional detailing materials to enhance it and putting together a card kit should be an easy enough job.  1/76th is actually the correct scale anyway for OO gauge model railway, I was happy to live with 1/72nd but the Scalescenes one is actually correct.

Thanks again.

Needs a little care trimming the bow and stern supports (don't ask) otherwise the hull sides don't marry properly. Haven't started on the deck fittings yet. As you suggest other materials might come into play. Enjoy!

One what, a Scalescenes one or a Model Slipway one?  Is it built or unbuilt?  Do you wish to sell it, if so for what?  Are you prepared to ship it or would it be collection only?
