Rather than start a new topic the latest ITV Poirot is a very different and dark version of what we have been used to. John Malkovitch is to be congratulated on his portrayal of Poirot in his later and less respected years. He has been reduced to putting on 'Murder weekends' at country houses as an income.
He is still prickly and self absorbed, the Inspector Japp character once the buffoon is now raised to heroic status, but his successor is somehow a throwback? Guilty until proved innocent, the boot is mightier than the word.
The postal service is the key to communications and even I can recall when a letter could be posted one day and a response received the following day. For the steam train buffs transport is mainly by rail.
I am enjoying it and look forward to the final episode tonight at 9. p.m.
