Antipodean:
I just started building one from spare parts and salvaged foam board. Never had or made one before so studied a lot of plans and then got started. This will be a test bed and my wife has already approved better versions  :-))

Brushless 2204 motors with 6045 x 3 props in self made ducts.
Once I have the basic platform working I will work on making it look more like a scale one.

RST:
Think the hoverbarge is more what's considered an acp or an "air cushion pallet". They're used often enough in industry.

Wrt: foam board. Someone called "Larry Hodgeson" my dad's friend introduced me to it some 35 years ago now, even using plant pot rims for fan cowls and aero motors etc. His models have accasionaly cropped up every now and again in show reports.  Keep it light and stuff was always the game.
