Tugboat Bronzewing
« on: January 01, 2019, 09:17:37 am »

Hello everyone, It's been quite some time since I've posted and thought I might show my current project, well I say current but I actually started it quite some time ago but I now have to have it finished and ready for delivery in early February.
I originally used the building of the frames in this thread....https://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,50405.msg514726.html#msg514726

It has a very interesting towing area which also incorporates the air intake for the engine room which has sliding panels which are closed if you need to starve a fire of oxygen.

Hi Phil

Great work. Love your Bronzewing Tug and looking forward to seeing the finished model. It looks to be quite a large scale enabling plenty of detail. Is this model going on the water or is it a static model?

I made a tiny 72nd scale model of one of these some years ago. No where near as detailed as your fine example though.

Hi sjbatche, Glad you like my tug, I have come across your page before but didn't realize you were a fellow Mayhemmer :)
I'm actually building 2, one for it's retired captain as a static model and the other is for RC.

Ah, your last photo makes sense now. I thought that I was seeing double. I am sure that the retired Captain will be very pleased with your efforts. What is the size of your models, scale or length etc?

Hi Mermod
The Mollyhawk (HTS-504) was sold to the Newsprint mills(Boyer) in Hobart, but was renamed Kallista !!!
HTS-501 Bronzewing.
HTS-502 Currawong.
HTS-503 Un-named
HTS-504 Mollyhawk(Kallista).

Hi Phill
I found an old picture which shows the Kallista on the left and Mollyhawk on the right.
So it did not have a name change to Kallista !!!!!
