We're at Shrewsbury show ground tomorrow for 5 days. There's a vintage tractor pulling contest on amongst other exhibits. Shrewsbury is a lovely old town like Chester and Ludlow but bigger, I hope the weather continues  :-)

Yes, that too! It's a vulnerable town.

Had two fantastic Sun filled days now and the show begins tomorrow. The field is full of wonderfully restored tractors and many military vehicles of WWII
  :-))

PS now have 900 shares in Kier. Much cheaper than a Shannon for equivalent uncertainty

Love Shrewsbury, I have spent many a happy weekend in that beautiful town. Mind you I like Ludlow too, spent 17 months being trained at RAF Cosford enjoying the local sights. Birth site of the industrial revolution and has some brilliant museums to visit too.

I did Cannon Street Smiths in London too during the Olympics and it’s now demolished

This is my first year of retirement but we already worked out that the best time to stay home is whilst all the wonderful little people are off school  {-)
So apart from one or two adult only meets (Pickering this long weekend) I have about 6 straight weeks of modelling time  O0

After which we will tour the Scottish North coast again but anti clockwise thus arriving on midge ridden West coast after they've gone  ;D

Nearly there with my lobster boat build then I'll be continuing my Speedline Shannon (if you want one there are only four left so don't delay. No more once sold)  but also once I have my revised jet drives from OceanWorks I'll be fitting them in my MBD Shannon hull

Money saving! we all need some of that eh?

My phone contract with EE reached the 12 months so using the 3 network as a lever I bent their arm.
3 would give me unlimited everything for £20 plus first 6 months half price. Now I know 3 is not the best network but that's not the point. Armed with that offer EE changed my 20GB for £22 to 100gb for £20 saving £24 in the act. Also the SIM I pay for for my mother at £16 (she only uses calls and text) they reduced to £9 saving £84
So far £108 saved for increased benefit.
Simply asking for my PAC code to switch network lit a fire under their botty  {-)

Then Virgin Cable. This would be near £40 after the recent increase for 50mb Broadband and phone(I'm already on a price deal).
After asking to close my account they gave me 6 months at £28.50 and 6 months at £31 including the price increase
No need to do the maths........ back of the net!

Yesterday I started partaking in the Wednesday sailing at Kirklees and it was great with a couple of dozen participants.
This Sunday the wife has booked LEEDS to Carlisle on a steam train, over 3hrs each way, nice surprise !

Retirement is going great  :-))
My step son is a manager for Kier and he's swayed me to buy shares as the price is down to nearly £1
He has insight into the true stability of Kier.
I've never had shares in anything but the AA  {-)
So I've had to google!
Now have an online account with Hargreaves Lansdown and an order to buy 900 shares if they hit £1
Currently about 105
These are sure to recover over time as they've been at £10 and the business is good and just overcoming some setbacks
We ended up with 5000 shares in 4 purchases as the price fell further so our average price per share to buy is well under £1, today they took a sharp rise to the effect we are £614 above water
There is a good possibility the price will rocket after their annual report in a few weeks

Yes I know and we bought at various prices so our average per share is low hence this big rise paying off and still climbing

We were over £400 down last week

We're playing the long game and don't plan to sell until about £3 per share
Still rising today and if I sold NOW it would be almost £1400 profit most of which is since last Thursday

L plates off. I'd been saying to folks who I know that were due to retire that it would be a few weeks i.e. same time as a holiday, before they felt like they had retired, but in my case I was in the groove straightaway!

Nice shots of the planes, what camera were you using?
