All British Whaleback
« on: January 14, 2019, 03:08:52 pm »

Read the first article Nick first class,
But, are there no proof readers?
RAF Mount Batten seems to have moved to the Solent or vice versa :embarrassed:

"xxxxx"!

Can’t believe I wrote Mount Batten when I should have put Calshot! I was the proof reader but I must have been reading something relating to Mount Batten when I was writing it. It was written about two-three months ago!
I’ll write an correctum! :embarrassed:

Hi Nick, I have also read that the Iris crash was indeed at Plymouth when 9 out of the 12 crew perished. It was also reported as happening in 1931
and witnessed by Aircrafts man Lawrence.

Now I’m trying to think what I wrote!
I’ll sort it out and write a correction for English Channel and if I wrote the year incorrect too I’ll put it in too!
I know this too which is very embarrassing. This is the problem when you’ve got too much going on in such a short time. I’m going through the second and third article to double check- shouldn’t be any errors but who knows! :D

It's very easy to make errors when proof reading your own copy Nick. Unfortunately I don't think the Editor, Martyn is an expert on this so he missed it too. There aren't any other proof readers I'm afraid!
If possible get somebody else to check it before you submit it. My Wife reads a lot of my stuff. She doesn't know about boats but she does pick up silly typos!

Thanks Colin

It was an error that I put the Solent when obviously it should have been English Channel, a small mistake in slightly different parts of the ‘same’ stretch of water! I’ve been reading so much when I wrote the first article that little slip ups were bound to occur, at least I got the base right which I thought I had got wrong after Ned mentioned it. We live and learn.
