Bonjour,
I have a TM2 which is a 4,5 cm3 in my TID tug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdVcGuQ-3bg and it is coupled to a 4 blades 70 mm Protean design steam propeller.
My tug Jan de Sterke with a 2cm3 twin JMC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sj-lYo7-z0  is coupled to a 4 blades 60 mm Prophop
steam [propeller.
I generally navigate under a stem pressure of 2 bars to save autonomy and keep a wet steam to complete the lubrication of the cylindeAs the TM1 has only one cylinder, I would ki,ndly suggest you a 4 blades 50 mm steam pitch propeller.
Typhoon is supervised by Anton (Fabrice BRETAGNE, http://www.anton-vapeur.fr/) one of the last French manufacturers. I have more than 10 of his steam machines and I confirm his reputation of quality (prices in consequence).

Hi i am afraid i am not good at uploading pictures but basically the rear of the crankshaft  has what i can only describe  as a small flywheel with 2 pins protruding and as the regulator moves from forward to-revers the regulator catches on one of the pins and moves the crankshaft of tdc therefore the pins are timed to always admit steam at a point off tdc ,hope this makes sense and i will try and upload a picture if possible, regards Allan

Hi Allan ,thanks for your reply , watched the video but did not get a clear view of the mechanism most of the footage was at the pop end ,however I think it must have a slip eccentric to change the valve position otherwise the servo would be pushing or pulling against steam pressure.I can see it would solve the stopping on tdc problem .Cheers

It maybe a piston valved engine so simply swapping inlet to exhaust will reverse it as per Bogs Paddleduck engine
The control arm moves the crank over dead centre by pushing the pins
There is an oscillating version in the Model Engineer from the 1950s I think
I did start making one but lost interest

This machine has a cylindrical valve and the reverse is ensured by the friction of the rod of the inverter on the crankshaft as we can guess by looking at 0'12" then at 0'37".
Easy to conceive, but hard to machine  ok2
