DIY ropewalk
« on: February 10, 2019, 03:47:13 am »

I stumbled across this on youtube.
Two vids, one on making an easy DIY rope walk, and the other on using it to make cordage, including sisal.
This is the first simple to understand walk through I have come across.

HI Grendal is the video of your rope making machine?  That is you can make a continuous length of rope.
The Meccano one is more sophisticated, I was wondering about the tensioning from the spool is that a continuous drive or a slipped one perhaps?

yes its mine, its a continuous drive, so as you get the spool fuller it does pull through slightly quicker. but really you just set it running and leave it until the feed bobbins run out.

Hello Grendal, nice work, and it looks very effective.  Are the building instructions for the Meccano model published in any way?  I have quite a lot of Meccano sitting idle.

I also made my own, its probably in photo's of the humber trawler build, link in by line. All the rope on that model was made with it.
