Rubber Fendering Glue
« on: February 15, 2019, 04:52:11 pm »

Hi
At a point on my Tamar Lifeboat to glue the rubber Fendering around the hull.
I have tried a sample lenght using Evostik Impact,  but the flat side of the D section has a slight convex radius on it and ends up lifting on edges. I was only applying glue to the rubber. The can of glue l brought last summer and doesn't seem to spread well. Also tried super glue and wasn't impressed with the result. Has anyone had good results from a particular glue as the Evostik tends to pull away from the rubber surface as l try to spread it. Thanks for any replies.

I've had some success with Everbuild ' STIXALL ' from Toolstation , it looks like your normal silicone sealer but it's not , it's a long chain polymer ( hasn't got that evil vinegar smell) around £6ish & you'll need a caulking gun , I had one ripped of the side but it tore the paint off , so the glue didn't fail . . .
