1600mah Sub-C 7.2 Nihms
« on: January 21, 2019, 12:37:51 am »

I have never used Sub-C Nihms before, and never had a problem with charging my larger packs before.

Due to a small model I have recently built, there is only space/weight for the smaller batteries.
Although I know Lipo's would be suitable, 1) I have never used them. 2) I have a large selection of Nihm's already.

I recently bought a new Sub-C, 6 cell pack, and was informed it was partially charged.

My charger is a Turnigy Accucel 6, and I initially charged them straight off at 0.6 ma, but it stopped at 670mah.
I discharged at 0.9ma and it cut out with a discharge figure of 317mah

What if anything have I done wrong, or should do.

Over to you guys please.

The discharged figure seems a little low, the charged up to 670mah could mean the pack was already charged to around 1000mah.
Id charge and discharge them a couple more times which should give you an indication if they are charging up to 1600mah. People say nicads have a 'memory' but my understanding is this has only been shown in controlled laboratory experiments.

Nicads were not mentioned.
NiHM's do not have a memory problem.
