« on: March 01, 2019, 09:22:10 am »

Hello Bernhard. ( I did ask for price of the 2 cylinder engine, I am bringing out a piston valve single servo twin engine in the nest few months, I have attached a few pictures of the prototype for you so you can get an idea of what it will look like.

A very nice looking engine. I assume it is just made to look like a compound, but both cylinders have the same bore?

Bonjour,
England has Rolls-Royce for reference quality cars, She also has Martin Baylis for the reference quality steam, engines and boats.
You already know the Der SeeKadett or the Topaz, but not yet his new "Project X". I have been honored to film it and to discuss with Martin :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPLj-5f_mKs
And as we usually say, the quality has no price !
For this special compound, JMC made only three of them, and I am the happy owner of one installed in my "speed" boat :
The classic compound : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tpREH2SVi0
The new one in action : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3YMJIslBEI

These compounds have no reverse.

Bonjour,
Just a complementary information, Martin's engines are not real compounds but piston valve so they have acceleration and reverse with one servo.
JMC engines are real compounds, with dead points but they can be equipped with Stephensons's side valves which allow the reverse with a second servo : Example on my triple expansion : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPt0ouL8kzc

Very nice steam plant. What did you use to insulate the steam pipes?

Indeed a very nice M&B plant setup there Bernhard  %) ......is that the newer Microcosm water pump with the o-ring sealed poppet check valves?......
We also see the pump body is stamped with the symbol for a check valve  ......-------<0------

1. do you find it suitable to pump against the boiler pressure?
2. is this an anti vacuum valve on top of the water glass?
3. are you reheating the exhaust steam after the de-olier?

I do like the miniature 2 x turn siphon on the boiler pressure gauge  :-))

So Bernhard......this miniature 2 x turn siphon on the boiler pressure gauge  [/size]  is actually on the steam pressure against the gas regulator diaphragm?

We also see the main boiler pressure gauge does not have the conventional
U [/b]
siphon, but a round bar shaped component....does this have some sort of dampening effect to keep the steam off the burden tube? The Skipper as always also looks the part {-)

Hi without sounding critical the engine looks beautiful but somewhat noisy is that the feed water pump also would like to see covers over the slide valve rods which is a potential spot for steam loss ,open to commentCheers and merry Christmas to all

It looks like it has adjustable glands for the slide valve and piston rods, which should prevent leakage.
