Stairs
« on: March 08, 2019, 06:55:54 am »

Good day all.  Can anyone give me some tips on how to build model stairways?  I have looked in the forum but not found anything. Brian

What type of stairways are we looking at, for what type of boat they are for would be a help.
What material you want to make them from, brass, plastic or wood. Also to what scale.

Googling model stairwells will be helpful. The railway guys  have some good videos etc.

Hi John, that Utube clip from the railway guys was a great help.  The stairs are for the tug Portgarth and I plan to use Evergreen plasticard for both stringers and treads.  The treads will be patterned.

Handrails will follow. I have decided to use flat brass for the stanchions and brass rod for the rails.  I think the stanchions should be round but to buy would be too expensive and I am not sure how to make round stanchions myself.

Cheers and thanks for the link
Brian

I see the railway clip was from Chas.  Thanks. Brian.

Evergreen is the best for square/rectangular strips. Go to Plastruct for rod, as theirs is accurately round.
