This is what I use on practically a daily basis

You can also use Top stop, top stop gold or even Easy light...Far far superior to Ispon P38 wich is hard as nails,I wont use it in work for a couple of reasons,One is as you have rightly said is difficult to sand and the other is it leaves far to many pin prick holes for my liking, when repairing car bodies time is of the esscence hence why we use the above...Hope this is of help

Dave recommended Upol to me a few years ago and I've been using it ever since.  It's so easy to sand and it's quite a runny mixture compared to P38 which really is useless stuff.

They don't make Top Stop Gold anymore but halfords sell Upol Easy 3 which is its direct replacement.  You won't go wrong with this stuff

Thanks Gents! I know Dave is a filler user, so I was expecting to hear from you!
I had it in my head to buy P38 on my last visit to Halfords for some mistaken reason.

I'll look out for U-Pol next week on my next visit. Incidentally, P38 has a ferocious odour - I'll be glad to stop using it in future.
Thanks Mark.

Dave I only discovered this recently as I wanted some more easy light but they've re-branded there whole line.  Unfortunately they don't make it in small tins anymore either so I had to buy a much bigger one.  Do you have any idea how long I can expect it to last before it becomes useless in the tin?

Yea I know but it really is the best stuff.  I'm hoping that Dave will come back and let me know that it will stay ok in the tin for years  {-)   Bad filler can make a build a real nightmare but Upol is good gear!

It's Me right then the tin in the pic is around 3 years old and still usable just make sure you close the tin properly and it will last...one top tip make sure you stir it thoroughly as soon as you reopen it as if you don't you will use up all the resin in it and render it useless

Dave
The stuff in your picture (Blue letters on the can) seems to be a 2-pack filler while there is also one with a lilac-coloured label which doesn't mention hardener. It also seems to be half the price of the blue can stuff.
Can you clarify for me, please?

Yes Dave it is a 2 component filler,I will never use the single pack stuff as it has a tendency to sink

Yes, because you can only get large tins it would seem.

For wood filling (and many general applications) I like Ronseal High Performance Woodfiller which rubs down very easily but everyone to their own.

Try your local car body shop suppliers as they may be a lot cheaper than well known stores, nemesis

Just for YOU Dave as yes of course it it a tad expensive to use But the results for me far outweighs the price as Nine times out of ten you can apply it in a single fill and not need a second layer. Now I have used this in the past and found it quite good maybe a second to what I use now

Sorry to come in a bit late on this. I use 'Squadron Products Green Filler'. Comes in a 65g / 2.3 oz tube. From about £5 to £6.50. Dries in 30 min. Put it on with a wet finger! Google search 'Squadron Products Green Putty' on the internet and there are usually 2 or 3 people selling it. Prices vary but the most expensive are often post free so take a look.

I've just checked Halfords website for Upol price!
£28 - £29 for 3.5L tin!
I would pay that if had enough boats to build/repair  but the qty is too large for me with only one or two boats in mind.
3.5 L is quite a size I thought?

You could repair all of our boats with that much - mind you 1.1 litres isn't that much cheaper

This is the size I bought but it will last years

Cant imagine Halfords selling many 3.5L tins of this? Wonder why they consider this a suitable size?
Yeh! Mark, I could repair all Mayhem boats!

All the fillers tend to stiffen over time, so buying a lot isn't a good idea unless you are going to get through a lot of it, which modelmakers don't tend to do.

I use Upol Dolphin glaze and Fantastic, Dolphin glaze is more like a two part stopper, so quite runny, I sometimes mix the two to form an 'inbetween' filler. You can purchase each in bag form rather than in a tin, this helps keep the product fresher.
