Skydiver 1, or maybe 4. A bit of a challenge.
« on: April 04, 2019, 07:11:22 pm »

Just got this beast, a 60" Studio 2 Models Skydiver submarine, from Gerry Andersons' live action TV series UFO. I have always wanted one of these, now I have one.
It's not going to be a quick project ( which projects of mine ever are!? ), I am going with thinking and planning, maybe a bit of cosmetic work, only for the time being. Other projects must take precedent before I can really get stuck in to this.
So, current plans; Air pumps, twin shrouded jet drives, with reverse through the hull side grills, shifting ballast/battery for altering trim, 3D steerable nozzles. So lts to think about, no rush just yet, will just keep looking at it with loving eyes for now :embarrassed:

Wow what a nice looker. Gives me flashbacks to when I watch that T.V series.
Thanks for posting and I look forward to your future posts. George

It seems I managed to miss the original posting.
An intriguing subject, no doubt, and definitely a one to follow  :-)

Right...? Who ever looks into the Submarine forum?
Always wanted a model of the Skydiver, never had the extra funds for it.  %)

It was a good deal for all involved..and I got rid of Nautilus which I felt I had fallen out of love with. However, Skydiver looks exactly the same as it did in April. Still, it will get done, in some form or another, eventually!!

 WOW!!!!!!!  That is incredible.
Thank You for sharing the picture.
Is that a display only version OR does it go in the water, surface or static dive?
 Thanks George

It's mentioned several time in the TV series that S.H.A.D.O. operates a fleet of the Skydiver submarines so Skydiver 4 is ok.

I read on the net that in the series SHADO had an unspecified number of Skydivers patrolling Earth's oceans. Each Skydiver was numbered and the composite sections were referred to as Sky or Diver One, Two, Three etc. Skydiver One was the most frequently seen.
