Slec boat kits. "Arrow" what sort of build?
« on: April 06, 2019, 01:02:23 PM »

Been looking for my first kit to build.
The Fairley Huntsman was recommended as a good kit for novice BUT the style is not really what I want.
The Arrow is more like it BUT  do not know if that will be a  build for novice? Would like some sort of manual or diagram.
Secondly can anyone tell me what would be a good electric setup, regards motor, esc and voltage.
The boat is just over 25 inch by 7 inch.
do not need ballistic ,fast will do  ok2.
thanks

Back in the day, when this was a Lesro product, we used to sell shed loads of these and its cabin fitted cousin, the Rapier (?). Often as starter models. It is a well designed model by Les Rowell I believe. The style of construction results in a tough little model, with some rather pleasing lines.
Motor wise, 540/600 size brushed or something around 22mm to 28mm diameter brushless outrunner, between 1000 and 1400Kv should do the job. 7.2v NiMh or 7.4v lipo should provide decent motive power.
Do it!!

I've personally built an Arrow ( wanted to! ) but I've heard good reports of the kit and materials.

Take your time, lots of trial fits, ask questions here, you'll be fine!   :-))

Think I will go for it, its a good looking boat.
Looked up LESRO and it looks like they still sell them, same price as Slec.
Are they the same kit and contents do you think?

I think they are both the same kit.
