David H Alderton - Mevagissey Lugger - 'Lady Ma'
« on: August 14, 2023, 05:23:58 pm »

Simple question - has anyone built this?

I was in my cellar yesterday and came out with a very mouldy cardboard box containing the hull for this boat along with the fittings, sail material and plans. There was an order confirmation from David dated 29th August 2000 after I'd bought everything at Ellesmere Port. Cost £35 !! And I think that included the postage too!
Fortunately for me I had also taken a dozen or more photos of his display model and though they have not survived the ravages of time as well as the kit bits they are nevertheless going to be really useful for my build. But it would be really helpful if someone had actually built this model and incorporated radio control. I seem to remember that Dave reckoned a lever arm winch would be perfectly adequate although how you decide on sheeting arrangement for this sort of rig, I have no idea!!

Many thanks

Simon
