Virgin Atlantic Challenger II
« on: April 01, 2019, 09:27:58 pm »

Hi from a new member.
I’ve just finished a 4yr build of a 1/12th Severn class lifeboat details of which are posted under the appropriate section.
So needed a new project, so I’m restoring a 25yr old Virgin Atlantic Challenger II that my dad scratch built and doubled the plans size. Therefore this is now 52 inch long and a 17 inch beam and weighing in at 7.5kg excl batteries.
I will post some pics once I’ve worked out how to, please be patient.

Hi Andy, well I’m awaiting the motors and ESC and the props and shafts from the Prop Shop. Currently prepping the brass work for the new ladder, re made the aerials and will shortly be rubbing down the hull in preparation for fibreglass lamination and a respray

Jim - does your model have the same type of rudders as per the original? Often wondered what the advantage of this design was.

Currently no it doesn’t and I’m awaiting my new props from the Prop Shop to see if I have the room to be able to replicate the original design. If not then it will have to be the conventional type.
